Today's picture is inspired by Japanese culture with their urban legend of Kuchisake-Onna, the slit mouthed woman. The story of Kuchisake-Onna comes from the Edo period of Japan so I decided to dress her in traditional clothing and hair. She wanders the streets of Japan and will approach you hiding her face asking if you find her pretty, your responses dictate whether you leave looking like her or...well dying. I was trying to emulate the excellent horror artist Junji Ito. He really hits hard on the body horror and the fear of the unknown; it's a style that makes you feel uncomfortable no matter how mundane the character appears to be.

If you would like to collect prints, shirts, or anything else with Kuchisake-Onna's lovely face you can find them at and right now you can get 20% off sitewide with code SPOOKTACULAR.

If you enjoy what I do and have liked seeing the Halloween collection so far consider becoming a patron at
